Nir Sivan Leads Sculptural Vision at International Archaeology Expo
In October 2022, architect Nir Sivan led the architectural and interior design of an innovative and large-scale installation for the FabVision International Expo of Archaeology, a global event hosting over 10,200 visitors across 3,000 sqm and 21 pavilions, with more than 55 international delegations.
Sivan’s most striking contribution was the conceptual centerpiece: “Nuraghi Coloru” (Snake Nuraghe), a bold, sculptural installation designed to break and recompose the vast walkway into a flowing, unified spatial experience. Drawing inspiration from wind, movement, and ancient serpentine symbolism, the structure evokes the sensation of time travel, aligning perfectly with the Expo’s archaeological theme.
Constructed from 2,000 interlocking cardboard blocks, the piece showcases advanced BIM and parametric design, using mathematical algorithms to control every detail—from orientation and form to color and sustainability. The use of recyclable materials and a modular, reusable system reflects a deep commitment to eco-conscious design.
Nir Sivan, together with a skilled team—including Ing. Michelangelo Rutcher, arch. Andrzej Samsonowicz, and arch. Mouafo Florian—brought the installation to life, combining architectural artistry with technological innovation. The result: a landmark example of how sustainable, interactive architecture can elevate the experience of international cultural events.
