CasaShopping at DW! Rio 2026 – “Architecture, travel, nature and the sixth sense” (14 August 2026)
For Rio de Janeiro’s design week, Sergio Zobaran of CasaShopping interviewed Nir Sivan, who joined from Sri Lanka. The conversation moves from the handmade culture of Sri Lanka to what Nir calls the architecture of the sixth sense: space felt through movement, proportion, light, material and sound before the mind can explain it. He returns to the first sketches of Onda Carioca, drawn while watching the waves at Barra da Tijuca, and presents two current concepts, Selva on the west coast of Costa Rica and Vision in Flight in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia.
He also speaks about automotive design, about sustainability as the intelligent use of material, learned from a family of tailors, and about his wish to build again in Brazil: “The hand, nature and technology are not separate stages – they are part of the same process.”
