Blending Art with Algorithms: Nir Sivan’s Visionary Use of Technology in Architecture
Lecture presented at the Annual Engineering Summit together with formal partners LANIK
Architect Nir Sivan, founder of Nir Sivan Architects, was invited to this year’s Annual Engineering Summit to share his pioneering approach to integrating BIM, parametric design, and AI-powered tools into contemporary architectural practice.
Known for his sculptural, free-form buildings—such as the Carioca Wave in Rio and the modular “Nuraghi Coloru” installation for the FabVision Expo—Sivan demonstrated how technology can enhance, not replace, human creativity. His work employs Building Information Modeling (BIM) from the earliest stages, allowing precise control over form, material use, and performance. His team uses mathematical algorithms to guide structure, sustainability, and spatial experience, optimizing every element from shape to light orientation.
In his lecture, Sivan also revealed how generative AI tools like ChatGPT and MidJourney are transforming architectural dialogue—from static monologues to dynamic, shared visual thinking. By turning words into images in real time, he opens up the design process to broader, more inclusive collaboration.
For Sivan, technology is not just a means of production—it’s a language. A language that, when mastered, allows us to sculpt architecture that is as intelligent as it is emotional.
