“Even Brazil, like Italy, is living through a moment of economic uncertainty,” said architect Nir Sivan. “I think these are exactly the moments to stimulate creativity. Together with my client we chose to invest in the future, to open a new path and become a ‘design symbol’ in the Brazilian market.” The freeform, self-supporting glass-and-steel canopy for CasaShopping in Rio de Janeiro — engineered with Germany’s Knippers Helbig and built with Austria’s Seele — is described as the first work of its kind in Latin American architectural history.
