Wood Wave Box presents the Vilnius Congress Centre as an open, contemporary and welcoming public building for the city. Situated between the Seimas precinct, the nearby square, the future connection to Albertas Bridge and the Neris river corridor, the project is designed not only as a venue for conferences and events, but also as a new civic place that strengthens daily urban life in this part of Vilnius.

The proposal respects the urban structure defined by the competition brief while carefully reshaping it to improve pedestrian movement, openness and public connection. The building volume is lowered to reduce its impact at street level, and in return the project gives back an accessible green roof landscape for the city. This rooftop becomes an additional public layer: a place to walk, pause and look out over the surrounding urban and river landscape.

At the heart of the building is a luminous central space defined by a sculptural glulam wood element. This “wood wave” forms stairs, edges and ceiling surfaces, guiding people naturally through the building and creating a warm, memorable atmosphere. Beneath a large oval skylight, the main foyer becomes a civic interior that welcomes visitors and gives the congress centre a clear architectural identity.

The project combines strong character with practical performance. Its halls are flexible and able to host different types of events, including simultaneous functions, while public, service and delivery flows are clearly organised for efficient operation. Timber, glass, greenery and responsibly selected low-impact concrete create a balanced material language that is both contemporary and durable.

Wood Wave Box aims to give Vilnius a congress centre that is representative yet accessible, international in quality yet rooted in local urban life.
